Here's what other parents and caregivers have to say:

I have looked through TONS of different resources, and this is by far the best thing I've found!

Kasey G.

My son, 5, is already reading small books and able to write (phonetically) messages back and forth with me. He maintains his curiosity for the world and enjoys exploring math and science in a fun way, as well as simply enjoying the wonder of the world around us. I directly credit your materials for this, as well as helping me learn how to better parent and teach with a more broad-minded perspective over simple rote memorization.

Sam W.

Your kind and loving teaching style shone through every single idea that came from you.

Susie K.

I just wanted to say that I have had 6 children and had my oldest reading before she entered Kindergarten. Yet, I was so excited to see the order in which you suggest to teach ABC's. I bought your program for my last daughter and wished I had it for my son. She was 4 at the time of purchase, and she really enjoyed going over the letters. Thank you teaching an old Mom a new trick!!! I truly recommend this program to everyone!!!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my child is ready for Kindergarten at Home?

Kindergarten at Home covers all foundational Kindergarten skills—from phonological awareness all the way to sound blending, and so much more! Generally, children are ready for Kindergarten at Home between the ages of 4 and 6. Before this age, I recommend my preschool program, Play into Kindergarten ReadinessPlay into Kindergarten Readiness acts as a bridge from entirely child-led play to guided play-based activities. Once a child is having success with 20-minute play-based activities, such as those found in Play into Kindergarten Readiness, they are ready to begin Kindergarten at Home.

What is phonological awareness?

You will learn all about phonological skills in Kindergarten at Home! Phonological skills actually have nothing to do with the letters in the alphabet, but they are essential for building a strong foundation for reading. Phonological awareness focuses on auditory skills, hearing the relationship between words—the rhymes, the sounds, the syllables, etc. Did you know that a child’s ability to rhyme in Kindergarten is a direct predictor of his or her reading success in grade one? It’s true! Rhyming is the first of seven phonological skills that your little one will master with Kindergarten at Home.

Can I move through this program faster so my child will be done by a certain date?

Yes! Kindergarten at Home is set up with nine activities per week designed to be completed over three days, plus extra deep learning opportunities sprinkled throughout the week. Of course, you are welcome to implement the curriculum however works for your family!

Do I need How Wee Read too? Is learning to read covered in Kindergarten at Home?

Kindergarten at Home covers all kindergarten literacy skills through play, which includes phonological awareness, letters, sounds, and introduces sound blending. It is a complete kindergarten literacy program.

Many parents find it helpful to know exactly what they need to teach for a child to learn to read, and some children are ready to progress beyond the skills covered in Kindergarten at Home. For this reason,  How Wee Read is the perfect compliment, as it provides you with a complete learn-to-read blueprint. With a tracking sheet to ensure important foundational skills are understood, you will build reading skills one step at a time. We revisit the skills taught in Kindergarten at Home in a new way—using beautiful cards and hands-on activities—and then progress even further. How Wee Read takes your child beyond blending, into special rules and exceptions, and all the way into reading sentences and stories.

What are your qualifications?

I also support parents, caregivers, and fellow teachers in their journeys with little ones through my blog, homeschool resources, and curriculum.
